Inauguration of the holy see pavilion

On the 1st of October, the Pavilion of the Holy See was officially inaugurated, and opened to visitors. The people that took part at the opening were; The Commissioner General – His Eminence Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, Undersecretary Adjunct of the Pontifical Council for Culture – Msgr. Carlo Maria Polvani, Deputy Commissioner General – Msgr. Tomasz Trafny, Architect and Director of the Pavilion – Giuseppe Di Nicola, The Franciscan Youth entrusted with the duty of welcoming and accompanying visitors and some guests.

30th of september 2021

expo 2020 opening ceremony

On the 30th of September 2021, His Eminence Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, the Commissioner General of the Holy See Pavilion participated at the Expo’s Opening Ceremony. The ceremony featured performances by some well-known international artists. 

29-30th november 2019

international participants' meeting

Between the 29th and 30th of November 2019, the 4th International Participants’ Meeting was held in Dubai. Msgr. Tomasz Trafny, Mr. Giuseppe Di Nicola and Mr. Ferdinando Latour participated in the meeting.

14th of july 2019

commitment of the holy see towards expo 2020 dubai

On the 14th of July 2019, Msgr. Tomasz Trafny, Deputy Commissioner General visited Dubai for first time. During the meeting with Yacoub Yousef Al Hosani, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for International Organisations Affairs. Msgr. Trafny has confirmed formally the participation of the Holy See in Expo 2020 Dubai. It was also a unique opportunity to admire the vision behind Expo and the prospect of the main site of Expo 2020, a 438-Hectare Area. It was decided that the Pavilion of the Holy See will be placed in the Mobility District.

On May 14th 2019, Ms Sara Ghazi Almahri of the UAE Embassy in Madrid visited the Pontifical Council for Culture to discuss a possible participation of the Holy See at the World Expo 2020 Dubai.
